FEATURED BUILD

AWD EL CAMINO
The AWD El Camino is a full tube chassis, full-time all-wheel-drive race car built with one goal in mind: absolute controlled chaos.
Powered by a Ford Godzilla engine and a Magnuson supercharger, the project is designed to blend brutal horsepower, custom engineering, and real-world drivability into one completely unhinged machine. Built to handle race tracks, street driving, events, and long-distance abuse, the El Camino represents the most extreme version of the Retro Fabworks mindset.
Every part of the build is rooted in experimentation, fabrication, and pushing limits while still maintaining refinement, functionality, and reliability. It’s not just a horsepower build — it’s an evolving engineering showcase designed to prove that wild ideas can still be driven, tested, and enjoyed in the real world.

At its core, the AWD El Camino is more than just a build — it’s a rolling experiment in fabrication, engineering, and controlled insanity. Every section of the chassis, suspension, drivetrain, and engine package is being hand-built and rethought from the ground up inside the Retro Fabworks shop. From the custom pushrod suspension system and full tube chassis to the blower adaptation and billet intake development, every part of the project is designed with one question in mind:
“How far can we actually push this thing while still making it work in the real world?”
The mission behind the El Camino has never been about building another dyno queen or trailer-only race car. This project is being created to drive, test, evolve, and survive. The goal is to blur the line between race car engineering and real-world usability — building something capable of making massive power while still being driven across the country, hammered on at events, and abused in ways most race cars never experience.
At Retro Fabworks, the process matters just as much as the final result. Every late night, redesign, fabrication challenge, and engineering problem becomes part of the story. The AWD El Camino represents everything this shop stands for: taking wild ideas that probably shouldn’t work… and proving they can.
